Long
Term Care
To better meet the needs of the community a new 32 bed Long-Term Care facility was constructed in 2000. This facility has allowed residents and their family to experience an atmosphere that feels more like home. While long-term care is the primary function of the facility there is an active Respite Care and Adult Daycare Program which is designed for those in need of a shorter stay. These programs are ideal for families that wish to continue caring for their loved ones at home, but may need to be gone for short periods of time. Other amenities offered by GCHS include:
Open
Dining
- Group Activities
- Rehabilitation
- Individualized Activity Plans
- Restorative Aide
- Licensed Cosmetologist
- Volunteer Hair care every Friday
- Church Services three times per week
Greeley County Health Services Long Term Care was recently recognized as a 2007 PEAK Award winner.
The PEAK Awards is designated by the Kansas Department on Aging and created to “Promote Excellent Alternatives in Kansas Nursing Homes” (PEAK) to support nursing homes instituting non-traditional models of care with home environments, a movement known nationally as “culture change.”
Nursing homes from across the state are invited each year to submit an application describing the changes they have made during the previous year.
A PEAK Application Review Committee, consisting of representatives from AARP, Kansas Association of Area Agencies on Aging, Kansas Advocates for Better Care, Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, Kansas Silver-haired Legislature, and the Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman reviews the applications received and selects homes for site visits.
The PEAK Travel Team, with representatives from Myers & Stauffer, L.C., the Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Kansas State University’s Center on Aging, and
KDOA, visits the homes selected to verify information submitted in the application.
Melissa Walk was also named as the 2007 Activity Director of the Year.
Congratulations to the residents and staff of the Greeley County Long Term Care.
